Learning Hub
Dublin, Ireland
The winning entry to this architecture competition proposes to extend a media facility dedicated to providing research and resources in response to Europe’s refugee crisis on Dublin’s Trinity College campus.
Conceived as a platform for collective learning, the addition expands on the capacity of the facility and reimagines semi exterior learning spaces within an education hub that fosters a search for identity, place, and community.
Polycarbonate panels on a lattice frame form the outer shell to the facility and a translucent enclosure that provides diffuse light and privacy for the visitors. A covered outdoor area forms a unique place where a range of programming activities can take place to serve the facility’s diverse mission.
